How Much Wood Do I Need For Winter?

Whether you have a fireplace, chiminea or wood burning stove, you will have access to a safe and natural heat source throughout winter.

And with Hardwood Heat Logs, you are guaranteed a high heat output with a beautiful flame, while Lekto Night Briquettes ensures a long lasting heat that will keep your home warm through the night.

But, here at Lekto, we like to take care of our customers. That’s why, after listening to some of your questions about our products, we thought it best to answer them all in one blog post.

How many night briquettes will see me through winter?

Lekto Night Briquettes are the ideal companion to heat logs or kiln dried logs in your wood burner.

Because of their dimensions, (15.5cm x 12cm x 7cm) they are easy to store and – again, depending on the size of your fireplace – you should not require more than 2-3 briquettes a night

Our 10 + 2 Night Briquettes Special Deal will include 240 briquettes and will be enough to see you through any bitter cold nights until the sun rises in March.

They last for 8 hours and their packaging is specially designed so that you only ever open up what you need, while the rest are easy to store. This is one of the many benefits of our night burning briquettes all being of a consistent shape and size.

How many heat logs will see me through the winter?

One of our most frequently asked questions and one of the most difficult to answer. In short, the amount of heat logs you need depends on how big your fire pit or log burner is, as well as how often you use it.

Our hardwood heat log multipacks include 10 logs (27cm x 9cm) and each log can last between 2-3 hours, so if you are to fire up the fireplace first thing in the morning and keep it burning until late in the evening, you will use an average of 5 hardwood logs a day.

As winter lasts 89 days (from 22nd December to 20th March), a small pallet of 180 logs will be ideal, especially as it can get cold before winter officially begins.

Of course, there will be times when you will not need to have the fire burning for such a long period of time. For instance, if you and the whole family is out for the day and get back once school and work is done, you will probably only need to use 1-2 hardwood logs, as that will see you into the late evening, when you will be able to transfer over to night briquettes.
