Starting a New Fire with Hardwood Heat Logs
Thanks to their ultra-low moisture content and chimney-effect-creating shape, starting a fire with Hardwood Heat Logs is easy as one, two, and three. Use your regular fire-starting technique and simply replace your regular fuel with a third of Heat Log.
Adding Heat Logs to an Existing Fire
Hardwood Heat Logs are a perfect tool to use to give your kiln-dried logs or sawdust briquettes a near-instant heat boost. To do this, break off a chunk of a Heat Log and place it on top of burning embers. The Heat Logs will soon begin to burn, giving you an instant burst of heat.
If you feel like you could use even more heat, you can add another chunk later.
Your First Use
Due to their ultra-high heat output, Hardwood Heat Logs must be handled with care to prevent overheating and/or potential damage to your wood-burning appliance. This isn’t just marketing speak. You really need to be careful.
When using them for the first time, break off a small portion of a Heat Log and add it to an existing fire. We recommend starting off with ⅓ or ¼ of a Heat Log. This way, you’ll get to understand their heat output profile and burning characteristics.
